Built by someone who actually needs this
Hi, I'm Ethan Hu. I'm a software engineer at a large tech company and a serious language learner. I live and work in a country where the main language isn’t my native one, so a lot of my week is spent in meetings and online courses in that language. It’s exciting, but it can also be exhausting to keep up.
I built SonicCaption because I was constantly pausing videos, rewinding meetings, and reading transcripts after work just to understand what people were saying. I wanted something that quietly sits in my browser, gives me clear subtitles and translations in real time, and lets me stay present instead of fighting the language all the time. I use SonicCaption myself every day for both work and study. If something feels off, or you have ideas to make it better, you can email me directly at xtcodetech+soniccaption@gmail.com — I read every message.
